waiting for some words to jump at me.

I don't know what's wrong with me but lately I can't write. I haven't lost my desire to write I just don't have much to say. But I will say this, Sara Arai's collection was the highlight of Japan Fashion Week. After looking at her collection I wanted to know more so I looked up the brand description  and this is what came up:

Arai, brought up in Beijing, graduated from Fashion College Sakuragaoka. After her  debut in China, she moved to Tokyo to set up her own label. Her made-to-order clothes are of extreme comfort and beautiful lines. Since 1998, she has also been working as a stylist for celebrities. In 2005, she opened her flagship shop in Mejiro, Tokyo and started sales of her couture products. Arai started her prêt-à-porter line araisara in 2008, to express the connection between traditional oriental culture and fashion.

she's amazing.

Hidenobu Yasui...his collection reminded me of a boring office place but I like this dress.

I also liked that mintdesigns used Asian models...wtf Japan Fashion Week your shows/models were supposed to look different from the European ones!!! I'm disappointed.

Story of the week

Haha Bill O'Reilly. This article made my day. I was having a good day but after reading this article my faith in karmic retribution was restored. If you have time read some/all of the complaint around page 8 or 9 it started to get interesting.

+ J

Jil Sander's design consulting agreement with UNIQLO aka +J = love! Last night I bought a grey Merino turtle neck sweater dress. I really want the tuxedo coat but I didn't allow myself because what I really need are trousers. Hooray for big designers hitting the high street! It is one fashion fad that I will never tire of.

There it is the newest piece of wool in my wardrobe after a day of work.
* ehhhh next time I'll get someone else to take the picture

Dear the Sartorialist,

I'm so glad that you're going San Francisco for a signing but what about Sapporo? I love your book and would love to fly home see friends and family, then get my book signed buuuut that's not really an option for me. So why do you come here? I'm almost sure you could make it happen.

Sincerely,
Sapporo

J'adore...

Madame Rykiel and her S/S 2010 collection. All of it! It take me back to February 2007 when I lived in Lyon and waltzed by the Sonia Rykiel shop almost everyday. It had the most beautiful shades of yellow in the display. At the point I was almost done enduring my first winter (I'm a native Californian) in which every French woman, seemingly, wore all black and I wore all gray with the occasional navy blue. Anyway, my first Rykiel items to touch/try on were the most beautiful shade of yellow and this fashion month...or however long it has been...she is the first to bring color to my eyes. Her clothes and shows are soooo exciting. I can't wait to see her collection for H&M it better come to Tokyo...Madame Rykiel!

celui là (en haut) est mon look préféré

All photos are from style.com but I wish they were taken from digi-cam. Bon je vais aller mettre mon rouge à lèvre et faire le ménage. Et oui, c'est ça ma vie...pour le moment.

Beauty on the farm

Yesterday was a good day. We discovered a coffee shop that makes amazing hot cocoa and doesn't use msg in the food! I had already ordered my drink when Giselle waltzed in with her DIY-ed tee and headband. Best of all her supplies were purchased at the Daiso store (her hometown). Cheap and doesn't scream "look at my DIY shit"...I love it.

Tokyo Fashion Week Oct. 19-24!!!

I do blog about fashion

But I'm currently living in a fashion void! I will survive! As long as I know how to shop the internet and get away on weekends. My latest online purchase...Dr. Martens! I thought they were manly until I saw this editorial by Vogue España. The purchase was half for functional reasons. I need some shoes with traction so I don't slip on the snow! I'm going to do my best to survive this winter in style. Everyone who lives in/has visited Japan will probably get a kick out of how the boots are placed. I'm laughing myself. I will not be walking/posing in that position...it seems so not cute contrived.

Can you read that Katakana (on the 2nd line from the top) ? Its says Coco Avant Chaneru...finally saw it with Mayumi-san!!! And yeah, the movie did cost ¥1500 with a discount (!!) because I have a card with a Visa logo...

Sunday I (from right to left) watched/participated in a log pushing competition and then relaxed in the lovely Nakagawa onsen/sauna. My team was eliminated in the first round...duh

There we are...Alt chimu

I wanted them to win...they also had mario and princess. Like us, they didn't last long.

Post elimination we realized that the log is slippery soooooo you have to a) pull up your shirt sleeves and hold it in your arms against your skin OR b) take off your shirt. I bet if someone would have told me that before I went on stage I still wouldn't have done it because it was freezing/windy.
